Sony Alpha 7 V: Presentation on December 02
Sony announces the official launch of the Sony Alpha 7 V (ILCE-7M5) on December 2, 2025 – an eagerly awaited update to the popular full-frame system camera. The presentation will take place at 15:00 German time and promises innovative features that will appeal to both photographers and videographers. Initial leaks suggest a powerful 33-megapixel sensor, high frame rates and flexible video specifications that could set new standards in the segment.
- 33-megapixel sensor with partially stacked design
- Continuous shooting speed of up to 30 frames per second
- 8-stop image stabilization (IBIS) and flexible display similar to the A7R V
- 4K video recording with 60p without crop and 120p with crop factor
Powerful heart and hardware highlights
The Sony Alpha 7 V is expected to be equipped with a newly developed 33-megapixel full-frame sensor, which is partially stacked. This is according to new leaks from SonyAlphaRumors. This technology promises improved speed and efficiency in image data processing. The very high continuous shooting rate of up to 30 photos per second should appeal to action and sports photographers in particular and enables the fastest movements to be captured.

One highlight is the 8-stop image stabilizer (IBIS), which reduces camera shake in a wide range of shooting situations, resulting in sharper images. The camera is also said to have a particularly flexible display, which is based on that of the Alpha 7R V and offers more creative freedom in image composition.
Professional video with variable frame rate and storage options
In video, the Alpha 7 V can record 4K video at up to 60p with no crop factor for high quality, distortion-free video. In addition, 4K recording at 120p will be possible, albeit with a crop factor – exact values have not yet been confirmed. Two memory card slots offer plenty of flexibility: a pure SD card slot and a hybrid slot that supports SD and CFexpress type A cards enable fast data rates and a wide range of storage requirements.
Presentation and pre-orders
The official presentation of the Sony Alpha 7 V will take place on December 2, 2025 at 3 pm. Specialist retailers such as Foto Koch and Foto Erhardt are already offering pre-orders and reservations. Foto Koch is also organizing a live talk on the new camera on the same day at 6:30 pm, which offers a good opportunity to learn all the details directly from experts.
With an expected price of around 2,999 euros, the Alpha 7 V is positioned in the premium segment and is aimed at discerning photographers looking for a combination of high resolution, fast performance and professional video functions.
The Sony Alpha 7 V promises to set a new milestone in the Alpha series with new technology and improved features and could redefine expectations for full-frame system cameras. The official unveiling will clarify the extent to which Sony is really setting new standards with this camera.
