YouTube Unveils Personalized Year-End Recap Feature, Top Overall Trends And Creators Of 2025

YouTube is rolling out a “recap” feature to help users look back at the year gone by, along with looking back at the most popular topics and creators across the platform in 2025.

Manthra Panchapakesan, product manager at the Google-owned video giant, detailed the new Recap offering in a blog post Tuesday. She said it was developed in response to user feedback, requiring “nine rounds of feedback and over 50 different concept testings” before being finalized.

“YouTube Recap uniquely highlights interests, deep dives, and moments you explored this year, based on your watch history,” she wrote. “You’ll get a set of up to 12 different cards that spotlight your top channels, interests, and even the evolution of your viewing habits, or which personality type you fall into based on the videos you loved to watch.”

Recap will be available starting today for YouTube users in North America, and roll out to the rest of the world this week. Users can find Recap on the homepage, or under the “You” tab on mobile devices and desktop.

The feature follows Spotify’s “Wrapped” year-ender as well as similar initiatives by Apple and myriad compilers of year-end “best” list. For about a decade, ending in 2021, YouTube posted an annual “Rewind” video but discontinued it, citing the breadth and scope of the videos uploaded each year.

Regular music listeners will also see a ranking of top artists and songs of the year as part of Recap, Panchapakesan said. Users can go deeper on their most popular genres, podcasts or international music listening via the YouTube Music app.

Along with the new feature, YouTube also put out lists of top trending topics and creators for its overall user population. The unranked topics list includes Squid Game; user-generated Roblox experiences like Grow a Garden, Dandy’s World, Forsaken, Steal a Brainrot; KPop Demon Hunters; Brainrot; Charlie Kirk; Labubu; Nintendo Switch 2; Cookie Run Kingdom; Blue Lock; and Katseye.

The top creators of the year are MrBeast; CaylusBlox; IShowSpeed; Double Date; Cadel and Mia; Charlie Kirk; Law by Mike; CoryxKenshin; Zack D. Films; and Outdoor Boys.
