Broncos sign veteran WR to practice squad

The Denver Broncos are signing wide receiver Elijah Moore to their practice squad, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The news comes one day after Moore visited the team’s facility on Monday.
Moore (5-10, 180 pounds) was picked by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft out of Ole Miss. Following two seasons in New York, Moore was traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he spent two more years.
Moore totaled 200 receptions for 2,162 yards and nine touchdowns through his first four seasons in the NFL. He signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills this spring and hauled in nine receptions for 112 yards through nine games before being waived to make room for Brandin Cooks. Moore will now look for a fresh start with his fourth NFL team.
Denver will need to make a corresponding roster move to create a spot for Moore on the practice squad. If it’s a like-for-like move, one of Michael Bandy, A.T. Perry or Kyrese Rowan could be the odd man out. Of those three receivers, Rowan seems like the most likely cut candidate.
The Broncos also have five wide receivers on the active roster: Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin and Lil’Jordan Humphrey. If all goes well, Moore could be a candidate to get promoted to the 53-man roster later this season.
