Abbie Chatfield reveals surprise pivot into visual art with new project

Abbie Chatfield is branching out, but this time not into radio or reality TV.

The Australian media personality recently launched a fresh chapter as a visual artist, debuting a new art-focused Instagram page under the name “Bug Doing Art” and sharing what she describes as her first painting.

According to the Daily Mail, the post that kicked things off is an abstract portrait of a psychedelic slug — a bold, colourful piece that signals a shift away from her usual public persona and into a new creative mode.

In the same announcement, Chatfield revealed that she is still working on her previously delayed book project — but has adjusted her expectations.

She said she is “approaching the writing process with less pressure,” suggesting a more relaxed, self-directed creative rhythm.

The move reflects a broader change in how she’s engaging with the public and her own creative impulses.

Rather than doubling down on social media controversy or volume of content, Chatfield seems to be exploring art as a new — and perhaps more personal — outlet.
