Wolves Want to Sign ‘World-Class’ Star as Rob Edwards’ First Transfer

Wolves are considering a shock move to sign James Trafford in January, according to reports from talkSPORT.
The goalkeeper could be available next month after a frustrating start to life at Manchester City in which he’s made just six appearances.
For Wolves, the need for January reinforcements is clear. Rob Edwards’ side have picked up just two points from 11 games so far this season and are anchored to the bottom of the table.
Scoring just seven goals, they need attacking firepower, but if they can’t do that, they’ll need to find a way to keep the ball out of their own net if they’re to stop losing games.
Wolves Target James Trafford Deal
Wolves could be a surprise destination for Trafford next month, according to talkSPORT.
The Midlands club are monitoring his situation along with a number of clubs around Europe who are also keen.
Hailed as being ‘world-class’, Trafford joined City in a deal worth £27million from Burnley after Pep Guardiola’s side exercised a matching rights clause to beat Newcastle to his signature in July. At the time, the 23-year-old was promised that he would be Man City’s first choice goalkeeper, but that changed when the club signed Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain.
As a result, Trafford has been limited to cup action and hasn’t started a Premier League game since August 31st. With that in mind, it’s understood that Newcastle are expected to return for him next month. However, the move could hinge on Stefan Ortega, who is also keen to leave Man City, with Guardiola unlikely to allow both goalkeepers to move on.

While a move to a doomed Wolves side is hardly appealing, Trafford has little choice but to back himself. After moving to Man City, the 23-year-old has struggled for game time and that could prove to be disastrous for him in a World Cup year.
Playing so little first team football could cost him a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for next summer’s tournament, a blow that would be hard to recover from.
Trafford is far too good to be sitting on the bench and while Wolves might not be his first-choice destination, it would present him with a stage in which he can show his talents.
Other clubs may well come knocking as well in which case Trafford will have his pick of the clubs, but if that doesn’t happen then a move to Molineux could make a lot of sense for all parties.
