Iwobi Takes Motivation From Away Win Over Tottenham Into Tuesday’s Clash With Man City

Fulham of England midfielder, Alex Iwobi has cited his side’s 2-1 win away to Tottenham Hotspur as a heavy dose of motivation that The Cottagers need ahead of Tuesday’s home fixture versus Manchester City.

Sports247 reports that Iwobi and his pals will host The Cityzens at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night in the English Premier League and the Super Eagles’ star believes Fulham have the right tonic to help them get victory.

The former Arsenal and Everton dazzler, who played 87 minutes of Saturday’s victory at Tottenham Stadium before he was substituted, recalled how his side was buoyed by a fourth minute goal, off an assist from his Nigerian compatriot, Samuel Chukwueze.

Iwobi noted, “We know it’s always difficult when we play Tottenham at their stadium. Despite them having a great run of form, we know that any team in the Premier League can punish us.

“So, it was good that we had a great start, and we got off on the front foot. We’ve been doing well, and we kept trying to get our first away win, and I am happy that we were able to do that.”

He then cast his thoughts ahead of Tuesday’s clash with the visitors from ‘the blue side’ of Manchester and reasoned that Fulham’s squad has been boosted handsomely to get victory at home.

“We needed the win (on Saturday) because it was a London derby. Now, we are filled with hope for the next game.

“It’s our motivation for the next game (and) hopefully it’s a kickstart for us to go up and head the table,” Iwobi enthused.

Sports247 gathered that Fulham head into the 8:30pm kick-off standing 15th on the EPL log, but victory over second placed City would take them just five points behind The Cityzens, who currently have 25 in their kitty
