Oprah Winfrey has a big day out in Bondi – including a cult-favourite dish she ‘walked four miles for’

Oprah Winfrey has officially touched down on Aussie shores for the first time in over 10 years.

The famed talk show host, 71, arrived at Sydney airport in her private jet on Monday, ahead of the Australasian leg of her Oprah: In Conversation tour.

Following an itinerary recommended by actor Hugh Jackman, Oprah hit a number of Eastern Suburbs hotspots during her big day out Down Under.

“Can’t wait to be back in Australia and New Zealand for the first time in 10 years! Bring your friends, cousins, siblings – everybody!” she said in a social media video prior to her arrival.

In a series of clips posted to her Instagram this week, Winfrey informed fans she had “made it to beautiful Australia.”

The TV icon was seen gallivanting around the coastal suburb of Bondi; from a beachside stroll with her team, to a quick bite at the iconic Bill’s café.

At one point in the clip, Oprah was shown sampling “Sydney’s best hotcakes” on Jackson’s recommendation; a ricotta-based offering Bill’s, founded by the late Bill Granger, specialises in.

Revealing she had “walked four miles” for the seaside fare, she then confirmed it was “worth every step.”

Oprah reportedly engaged in a playful interaction with a group of fans, one of whom was holding up a sign that read “Oprah plz buy me a car.”

This alluded to the now-viral meme of her gifting every audience member at her show a Pontiac G6 in 2004.

“You get a selfie, not a car,” Winfrey joked in response.

The TV personality’s dramatic weight loss transformation was also noted by fans.

Winfrey previously faced backlash in 2023, after revealing she used weight loss medication to shed 22kgs.

She has been very open about her weight loss journey, previously revealing she began making small daily changes following a health scare.

She’s since built up her fitness, eventually getting into long distance hiking – and often covering 16 kilometre distances on weekends.

Oprah will continue her intimate speaking series across Australia, and is next set to make stops in Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne for one night of “connection, conversation and inspiration.”
