Glen Kyne joins New Zealand Film Commission board of directors

The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) has appointed Glen Kyne, former senior vice president and head of networks at Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ, to its board of directors.

Kyne brings extensive knowledge from the media sector, having been made the joint lead for Discovery ANZ in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands alongside Rebecca Kent at the end of 2020, following the company’s acquisition of Mediaworks TV, where he spent more than six years.

The following year, he took sole leadership of the trans-Tasman business after Kent was appointed to the newly created position of senior vice president, transformation. He then moved into the role of senior vice president and head of networks in June 2022, in the wake of WarnerMedia’s merger with Discovery. He departed the business in July of last year.

In a statement, the NZFC said Kyne’s expertise would be a “huge asset” as the commission continued to champion local film and position New Zealand as a leading destination for international productions.

“We’re excited to work with Glen and draw on his strategic insights, commercial expertise, and innovative approach to connecting audiences with world-class content,” the statement read.

In addition to welcoming Kyne, the NZFC has bid farewell to long-serving member David Wright, while retaining Jane Meares for an additional three-year term.

Joining Meares and Kyne on the board are Graeme Mason (chair), Ngila Dickson, Aimee McCammon, Jon Kroll, and Sharon Menzies.
