Oprah’s surprise act outside Sydney hotel

Oprah Winfrey is living life like a local on her current visit to Australia.

Not only has the iconic US star already hit up all the popular jaunts after arriving in Sydney on Monday, but she’s also taken to walking around barefoot in a very Aussie move.

The 71-year-old was spotted emerging from her hotel on Wednesday morning wearing casual and comfy clothing while holding her sneakers in her hand.

Flanked by four bodyguards who were also casually dressed, the star walked from the foyer of the lavish Four Seasons Hotel to her waiting car with no shoes on.

Oprah is in the country for her multi-city speaking tour, Oprah In Conversation, which kicks off at the ICC Sydney Theatre on Thursday, but she’s also taken time to get out and about in until then.

Yesterday, the former talk show queen completed the famous Bondi coastal walk as recommended by her friend, Aussie actor Hugh Jackman.

In a video posted to Instagram, Oprah, who was rocking bright green and blue activewear, was so amazed by the sights, she sang out, “Wow, wow, wow, Australia!” while admiring the view.

Her next stop was at the nearby Bills restaurant where she ordered the eatery’s famous ricotta hot cakes, which she highly rates.

“I walked four miles for these ricotta hot cakes from @billsaustralia — and they were worth every step!” she captioned another video. “Thank you @thehughjackman for the suggestion.”

Oprah later toured the Sydney Opera House were she reminisced about the time she filmed two episodes of her self-titled talk show from the forecourt of the iconic landmark.

“We are in Sydney Harbour,” she began in a clip filmed from the steps of the Opera House.

“So many wonderful memories right out here. In 2010, we brought an entire audience of 305 people from the United States to Australia. Remember that show? Such great, beautiful memories. It’s so great to be back in Sydney. It’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world.”

Oprah’s most recent Sydney adventure was indeed inspired by Hugh, who just days earlier gave her some advice on his hometown.

The veteran TV star will be spending two weeks Down Under for her Australia and New Zealand tour and asked The Greatest Showman star for advice on what to do and where to go while on our shores.

“My first tip, fly to Sydney and go down to Bondi and do the walk from Bondi to Bronte. It’s about a 40-minute walk and there’s sculptures all along and you’ll love it,” he recommended when they ran into each other in the US before her trip.

“And all of a sudden, if you have the urge, jump in the ocean. It’s the best jet lag cure.”

Hugh then told a keen Oprah where she could eat after working up an appetite on our east coast.

“Then go and have breakfast at Bills. Do you like ricotta hot cakes? Pancakes? Best in the world!” he insisted.

In addition to her Sydney show on Thursday, Oprah will tour Adelaide on December 6, Brisbane on December 8, Melbourne on December 11, before finishing up in Auckland on December 14.
