2 city employees found dead in apparent murder-suicide at water reclamation plant in Atwater Village, Los Angeles police say

ATWATER VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Two city employees are dead following an apparent murder-suicide at the Los Angeles Glendale Water Reclamation Plant in Atwater Village on Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to the water reclamation plant at 4600 Colorado Boulevard just before 6 a.m. after receiving a call about a person down with a gunshot wound, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found the bodies of two men with fatal gunshot wounds, triggering a large investigation on the grounds of the business. Investigators said one of the men is believed to be in his late-30s, and the other in his mid-50s.
A weapon was recovered at the scene, and LAPD said the incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
Police did not immediately identify the men who died.
According to a statement from L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, the men were city sanitation employees:
“I am deeply saddened by the shooting deaths of two City Sanitation employees at the LA Glendale Water Reclamation Plant. My heart breaks for this loss of life.
My Office has deployed our Crisis Response Team to provide support to employees and the Personnel Department is making mental health counselors available.
There is no active threat to public safety. This tragic event is under investigation.”
