South Africa needed 359 runs to win against India during the second ODI in Raipur on Wednesday.
If the Proteas complete this run chase, it will be the joint second-highest target overhauled in India. Australia had also scaled 359 against India in 2019 at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
The record for the highest run chase in India belongs to the home side. It shot down a target of 360 runs against Australia in 2013 in Jaipur.
South Africa holds the record for the highest successful run chase in ODI history for its pursuit of 435 runs against Australia in Johannesburg in 2006. In India, South Africa’s highest run chase came in 2011 in Nagpur when it overhauled 297 runs to win by three wickets.
