Report: White Sox agree to two-year deal with ex-Blue Jays LHP Kay

Anthony Kay is returning to Major League Baseball.

FanSided’s Robert Murray reports the former Toronto Blue Jays lefty has agreed to a two-year deal with the Chicago White Sox.

Free-agent pitcher Anthony Kay and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a two-year contract, according to sources familiar with the deal.

Kay, 30, spent the past two seasons in Japan with the Yokohama Bay Stars. In 24 games in 2025, Kay was 9-6 with an earned run average of 1.74 and an 0.981 WHIP over 155.0 innings pitched.

The 31st overall selection of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft out of UConn by the New York Mets, Kay was traded to the Blue Jays in 2019 as part of the deal that sent Marcus Stroman to Queens. Kay would go on to make his major league debut later that summer with the Jays.

In his five years in the majors, Kay appeared in 44 games for the Jays, Chicago Cubs and Mets. He was 4-2 with a 5.59 ERA and 1.605 WHIP over 85.1 innings pitched
