Title-chasing Real Madrid is seeking a much-needed win on Wednesday, as they travel to the Basque Country to face an Athletic Bilbao squad seeking back-to-back wins for only the second time in La Liga this season.

Los Blancos have played to three stalemates in their last three La Liga fixtures — a run which has allowed title rivals Barcelona to open up a four-point lead at the top of the standings coming into today’s game.

Ernesto Valverde’s inconsistent Bilbao, meanwhile, find themselves in the eighth spot, 11 points behind the all-important UEFA Champions League spots and come into this game off the back of Saturday’s 2-0 away win over struggling Levante.

Athletic Bilbao faces Real Madrid at San Mamés Stadium on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CET local time, 1 p.m. ET or 10 a.m. PT in the US and Canada, 6 p.m. GMT in the UK and a 5 a.m. AEDT kickoff in Australia on Thursday morning.

Despite a recent winless streak, Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid remain the team with best away record in the division this term, with 15 points from their eight games on the road.
