Wisconsin now has 2 quarterbacks in the transfer portal worth a serious look

Wisconsin needs to consider a transfer portal quarterback. They haven’t seen enough from Carter Smith to automatically dub him the starter. Especially as the time is ticking for Luke Fickell, he needs to go big in the transfer portal with a sure-fire quarterback. There will be plenty to choose from, and Wisconsin needs to win the bidding war.
In just the last two days, there have been two quarterbacks who have jumped into the portal who are going to be among the cream of the crop and have to be considered by Wisconsin.
1. Colton Joseph
Joseph was a name that many Wisconsin fans have already gotten excited about. He’s been at Old Dominion for the last two years, but his most recent year (sophomore) was electric. He had over 2,624 yards passing and 1,007 yards rushing. A player that would naturally fit into Jeff Grimes’ system and with two years of starting experience would be ready to go. He’s also proven to be durable, which will be a big key for Fickell.
Joseph is going to be one of the top names at quarterback in the portal. If there is a drawback, it’s that he has a bit of a gunslinger mentality, taking the game into his own hands, whether it’s running the ball or fitting into tight windows. All of Old Dominion’s losses came when he threw multiple interceptions.
2. Marcus Stokes
Stokes may end up being the DII Player of the Year. He put up video game numbers at West Florida. He threw for 3,100 yards and 29 touchdowns, completing more than 60% of his passes. He can also scramble and run the ball, as he added 336 rush yards with nine rushing touchdowns.
Out of high school, he was a 4-star recruit and one of the best quarterbacks in his class. He committed to Penn State and then flipped to Florida before signing day. However, things unraveled for him when he was seen in a rap video saying the “n” word as an 18-year-old knucklehead. Billy Napier dismissed him from Florida, and Stokes had to reset his career in DII. That was now three years ago, and his maturity has shown in leading his team.
He’s a redshirt sophomore and may end up being considered the best quarterback in the portal even after it opens up on Jan. 2 to everyone.
