Former Manchester United star Paul Parker enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Old Trafford but he has since been willing to part with some pieces of his career memorabilia

Former Manchester United star Paul Parker has earned over £100,000 by selling a number of treasured pieces of memorabilia from his career. Parker, 61, played for the Red Devils between 1991 and 1996, making 146 appearances.
In that time, he won the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup having played under legendary former boss Sir Alex Ferguson. But Parker has been willing to part with a number of items from across his playing career.
As per The Sun, the former defender decided to auction off a miniature silver Premier League trophy which was given to winners during the 1992/93 season instead of medals. The trophy reportedly fetched £27,280 when up for auction.
Other highlights included Parker’s medals from United’s 1993/94 Premier League triumph, as well as their FA Cup win vs Chelsea the same year. Each of the medals went for £16,120.
Parker’s League Cup winners medal fetched £5,700, while a further Charity Shield plaque was sold for £1,736. Away from items from his club career, Parker also decided to bid farewell to a host of mementos from his international career.

The former right-back sold off each of the 19 England caps that he had earned. Each of those fetched £3,720, except for the cap that Parker won when he played for the Three Lions’ in their defeat to West Germany in the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup in Italy – that cap instead earning £8,060.
A spokesman for auctioneers Budds said: “The main reason for selling is that he is quite friendly with Viv Anderson and some of the other players who have sold their collections.
“With the market so strong for Manchester United mementos at the moment he wants to maximise their value and give the proceeds to his family.”

Speaking about his career with Man United earlier this year, Parker said: “Everything I wanted as a kid was to play for the biggest club I could. I always said, aim as high as you can. If you fail, you can always go down, but start at the top if you can.
“ The FA Cup final was the dream. That was what I wanted when I was a kid, playing in the garden. Back then, the FA Cup was the glamour game. It was the last match of the season, the one everyone talked about.
“It was only when I got into professional football that I realised the real prize is the league, the marathon. That’s what you’re judged on. You don’t have to be a great team to win the FA Cup, but you have to be a great team to win a league title.
“The sides I played in under Sir Alex, and the ones after me, were great champions because of the football they played: expansive, fearless, always attacking. We were never told to sit back. We played positively!”
