Druski’s latest comedy skit about “hatfishing” has people online crying laughing, but for at least one viewer, the joke hit a little too close to home.
The comedian recently reshared a video on Instagram featuring a man with a noticeably receding hairline who jokingly claimed that Druski’s skit was so “offensive” that he can no longer support him.
“That last Druski skit was not funny. It was actually pretty offensive and I no longer support Druski,” the man said deadpan, playing into the bit.
He explained that the moment the skit went viral on social media, everyone he knew started sending it to him.
“Ever since that skit has hit the internet I have nonstop been getting shares of that skit, nonstop,” the user said. “Friends, family I haven’t spoke to in years. Why would you send me this skit?”
He ended the mock-serious rant by saying he finally understands what it feels like to be the subject of one of Druski’s viral jokes.
“I’ve never been on the receiving end of a Druski skit,” he said. “But now that I know what it feels, like I can no longer support this.”
Druski’s original sketch poked fun at “hatfishing,” the term used to describe men who hide hair loss or receding hairlines under hats, a play on the more famous term “catfishing.”
In the skit, Druski wears a baldcap with exaggeratedly patchy hair but transforms instantly when he puts on a fitted cap. He confidently tells a coworker about his high standards for women, saying, “I need something with long curly hair… I’m picky, bro. I’m picky as fuck. I can have a choice, because when you a provider, you’d be surprised what a woman would do for you.”
The skit follows Druski through several hat-dependent scenarios: a barber offering black spray to fill in his hairline, Instagram viewers demanding he take off his hat, and a bouncer refusing him entry to a bar because hats aren’t allowed. Even a possible love interest sprints away in fear after removing his cap and seeing what’s underneath.
