Amon-Ra St. Brown injury update for Lions on Thursday night

At this late point in the 2025 NFL season, the Detroit Lions are basically fighting for their playoff lives. They really can’t afford a home loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night. Unfortunately for the Lions, it’s unclear whether they will have arguably their best player available in such a big late-season spot.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Lions star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is iffy to play on Thursday night. He is nursing an ankle injury that apparently has a 1-2 week recovery timeline. He is at the one-week mark after suffering the injury on Thanksgiving. All of this makes it sound like he will be a game-time decision. This reporting also tracks with the Lions officially listing St. Brown as questionable on their final team injury report.

Needless to say, not having St. Brown available when you need every possible win would be a disaster for Detroit:

At the time of his injury, St. Brown had 75 catches for 884 yards and nine touchdowns, each statistic of which is among the top leaders in receiving production. We’ll see how the Lions replace St. Brown if he doesn’t play on Thursday night.

Who is Amon-Ra St. Brown’s backup on the Lions?

Rookie playmaker Isaac TesLaa is listed as St. Brown’s backup on the Lions’ depth chart. He was drafted in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
