It’s been a year since that iconic Gavin and Stacey finale which at last gave us all closure after 17 years. Since then the cast have all ventured on to new projects including TV dramas, autobiographies and book tours.

Now Mathew Horne and Joanna Page, aka Gavin and Stacey themselves, have teamed up once again for a new six-part Christmas series a year after the popular BBC comedy ended.

The pair who captured hearts as love interests Gavin and Stacey Shipman are back on our screens in ‘How to Say It with Food.’

Created by Waitrose, the series is aimed at solving some of Britain’s most common Christmas food dilemmas. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.

Mathew expressed his excitement about reuniting with Joanna, saying: “It’s become a Christmas tradition. We’re very familiar with the classic Christmas conundrums, but there’s nothing that some good food can’t fix. If I haven’t eaten it all first!

“Jokes aside, food really is the perfect way to show your love this festive season.”

The humorous mini-series will be aired on the supermarket’s social media channels every Tuesday and Friday on Waitrose’s social media channels leading up to Friday, December 19.

The episodes draw inspiration from typical Christmas scenarios, such as the fact that 64 per cent of family board games at Christmas end in arguments.

Joanna and Mathew tackle each issue, demonstrating how tasty food can ease holiday tensions. They showcase dishes like Waitrose’s No. 1 festive turkey pie, No. 1 mushroom malbec and port wellington, and No. 1 party polar bao buns.

Joanna shared her enthusiasm about working with Mathew again, saying: “You thought you’d seen the last of us! Well, we’re back and what fun we had. I love food, so it was such a treat working with Mat and Waitrose on this new mini-series.

“From a delicious turkey pie to a mouth-watering mushroom wellington, food is what brings people together over the festive season.”

Emily Angliss, senior social marketing manager at Waitrose, said Joanna and Mathew were the “perfect fit” to emphasise “family, friendship and love at Christmas”.

She added: “This Christmas, we’re celebrating the magical role that food plays in bringing people together and showcasing love.

“Our new series is a humorous collection of seasonal scenarios that bring this to life and inspire our customers to express their feelings through food.”

The social film series follows the launch of Waitrose’s blockbuster romantic comedy advert which pays homage to Love Actually, The Perfect Gift, featuring actress Keira Knightley and comedian Joe Wilkinson.
