Warriors vs. 76ers injury report: Jimmy Butler III, Jonathan Kuminga, Joel Embiid questionable, Paul George out

The Golden State Warriors are hitting the road for a three-game road trip that begins tonight, and it’s going to be extra challenging: Steph Curry isn’t joining the team, so they’ll be without their superstar for all three games. That includes tonight’s game, when they visit the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers, it seems, always have health questions abounding, and a fairly large inventory on the injury report. But the Warriors are joining them today, with plenty of names … though for the first time all year, De’Anthony Melton is not one of them, as he’s set for his season debut.
Here’s the full injury report. Gear up: it’s a lot of names!
Out — Steph Curry (left quadriceps contusion)
This is Curry’s third straight absence following his quad injury, and that number will reach five at a minimum. Needless to say, the team is going to take things very carefully with Steph.
Out — Alex Toohey (left knee injury management)
It really feels like we won’t see Toohey make his NBA debut anytime soon.
Questionable — Jimmy Butler III (left knee soreness)
Butler banged his knee during Tuesday’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and didn’t look to be moving well. He didn’t return from the locker room in the second half, but has a chance of playing today.
Questionable — Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle soreness)
Kuminga’s defense and rebounding were huge for the Warriors on Tuesday, though he’s still rounding into form after missing a few weeks. Hopefully he’s able to play tonight and take another step forward.
Questionable — Al Horford (right sciatic nerve irritation)
Horford is obviously nearing a return, as he’s been upgraded from “out” to “questionable.” He’s only appeared in 12 of the team’s 22 games this year.
Questionable — Quinten Post (left ankle sprain)
Post has really been rounding into form lately, so it would be a bummer if he’s unable to play. Especially since the team is very short on center depth right now. Speaking of which…
Questionable — Trayce Jackson-Davis (right knee patellar tendonitis)
There’s a chance that the Warriors are without all three of their centers. That would be bad!
Out — Paul George (left knee injury recovery)
George has only appeared in six games this year, and hasn’t quite looked like himself in any of them. Injuries and father time have made it pretty clear that the best days are behind the nine-time All-Star.
Out — Kelly Oubre Jr. (left knee sprain)
The Dubs won’t get to play their former teammate tonight, as Oubre will miss his ninth consecutive game. Prior to his injury, he was having a very strong season, averaging 16.8 points per game in a starting role.
Out — Trendon Watford (left adductor strain)
Watford has been solid in his first year in Philly, but this will be his fourth straight absence.
Questionable — Joel Embiid (left knee injury recovery; right knee injury recovery)
Embiid being on the injury report for both of his knees feels painfully fitting for the former superstar. He hasn’t looked like himself this year, and has only appeared in seven games … and only in 65 games, total, since winning the 2022-23 MVP award.
Enjoy the game, Dub Nation! It tips off at 4:00 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Bay Area and NBA TV.
