Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions NFL Bet Builder tips

Over 53.5 points

The NFC playoff picture is heating up and two contenders will face off as Dallas Cowboys visit Detroit Lions for Thursday Night Football. The Cowboys’ hopes of reaching the postseason looked slim going into their bye week with a 3-5-1 record but three wins have breathed new life into their season.

Their last two victories, which came just five days apart, were against the two teams who contested last season’s Super Bowl which demonstrates the kind of upward curve that they have been on. They must continue that against a Detroit Lions team for whom inconsistency has been a big concern.

Dan Campbell’s team are 7-5 and after a loss to NFC North rivals the Green Bay Packers last time out, they may have to win the rest of their games to make the playoffs. With so much at stake, expect a high-scoring affair.

Detroit have allowed 29 points per game in their last three home matches and Dallas have coughed up 342 points this season, the second-most in the NFC. Expect this game to go over the total.

Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions) first touchdown scorer

Jahmyr Gibbs has been key to any success that the Detroit Lions have had this season and only two players, Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs, have more all-purpose touchdowns than the Lions’ running back.

In their own back yard, expect Detroit to try to establish the run early and Gibbs is likely to be their go-to guy. The speedster has scored the first touchdown in three games already this season and looks a tempting price to kickstart proceedings in this fixture.

Jameson Williams (Lions) over 60 receiving yards

Despite their recent upturn in form, the Dallas Cowboys still have one of the worst defences in the NFC and they have been particularly poor in the air.

Their total of 3,324 passing yards given up is the worst in the NFL and Jameson Williams could be the man to take advantage for the Detroit Lions. The 24-year-old had a record-breaking game against the Green Bay Packers last time out with seven catches for 144 yards and looks likely to see plenty of the ball following an injury to key receiver Amon-Ra. St Brown.

Round off the Bet Builder by taking Williams to have 60 or more receiving yards.
