Charissa Thompson, the popular broadcaster, made a candid confession about her two divorces on live television to Michael Strahan, following his commentary on the Seattle Seahawks’ decision to part ways with quarterback Geno Smith.

While the college football scene has been buzzing with the drama of Lane Kiffin’s move to LSU, Sunday’s NFL games brought their own set of headlines. One such headline was Sam Darnold going head-to-head with his former team, the Minnesota Vikings.

Last season, Darnold shone brightly for the Vikings, leading them to the playoffs with a 14-3 record and throwing 35 touchdowns. Despite not being the initial choice as the starting quarterback for Minnesota, an injury to then-rookie J.J. McCarthy in the preseason led head coach Kevin O’Connell to put his faith in Darnold.

However, after a less than stellar performance in Minnesota’s playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams at the end of the 2024 season, the Vikings decided to let Darnold test the waters of free agency.

Earlier this year in March, Darnold signed a hefty three-year $100.5 million contract with the Seahawks, stepping into the shoes of their former starter Geno Smith, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders.

With the Seahawks currently boasting a 9-3 record this season, it seems that the decision to replace Smith with Darnold has proven to be a wise one for Seahawks general manager John Schneider.

Despite Sam Darnold’s modest 128-yard performance against the Vikings, the Seattle Seahawks triumphed with a decisive 26-0 victory, thanks to four interceptions of quarterback Max Brosmer.

FOX’s Jay Glazer provided some insight into the Seahawks’ decision to part ways with Geno Smith before the game, which led Charissa Thompson, who has been married and divorced twice, to share about her own experiences with ending relationships.

“There’s also a lot to celebrate in Seattle right now, and John Schneider [Seahawks GM] making that move to, going out and getting Sam Darnold, I know you had a front row seat to that,” Thompson said to Glazer.

“Yeah, I did,” Glazer responded, adding, “So it was actually at the scouting combine when this happened. A lot of these deals start working at the combine. All the way back then, he knew he was going to move on from Geno Smith … me, John Lynch and a couple of others were like ‘why move on from Geno?’ and he was like ‘We don’t think he’s going to want to renegotiate here, we’re going to move on.'”

After hearing Glazer’s insights into the Seahawks’ decision to let go of Smith, Michael Strahan commented, “You’ve got to know when to get out. Rather than stick it out with somebody for maybe a year too long.”

This prompted Thompson to draw a parallel between the Seahawks’ situation and her own personal life.

“That’s like me and my divorces, I knew just when to get out,” Thompson joked, earning a fist bump from Strahan while Julian Edelman tried to maintain his composure on the FOX Sports desk.

Despite the Seahawks’ impressive 9-3 record this season, they can’t afford any missteps if they hope to clinch the NFC West title.

Both the Rams and the San Francisco 49ers are hot on their heels with records of 9-3 and 9-4, respectively, and Seattle still has to face both teams once more.

They also have games against the Indianapolis Colts, who are currently 8-4, and the Carolina Panthers (7-6), who stunned the Rams last Sunday by defeating Los Angeles 31-28 in what was arguably their best performance of the season.
