Maple Leafs’ Woll suffers lower-body injury vs. Hurricanes

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll will not return to Thursday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes due to a lower-body injury, the team announced.
Woll stopped 22 of 23 shots through 40 minutes before being replaced by Dennis Hildeby to begin the third period.
Woll was away from the team for the first month of the season due to a personal matter. He’s been excellent since returning, sporting a .924 save percentage in seven games entering Thursday.
The contest against Carolina was Woll’s eighth start in nine games. He made his season debut shortly after fellow Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz suffered an upper-body injury. Head coach Craig Berube said on Nov. 20 that Stolarz’s issue was “worse than we thought.”
