LeBron James’ greatest record comes to a close

The Los Angeles Lakers have been playing very well this season, putting them at 16-5 overall, making them the second seed in the West.
Everything is clicking, even though they haven’t looked quite as good in their recent stretch of games. Unfortunately, this minimal decline in play on both ends has slightly coincided with the return of LeBron James.
On multiple occasions, he’s looked just a step behind his normal self. The tough part is, though, that you can’t really be mad or shocked. He’s set to turn 41 this season, and he’s in the midst of his NBA record 23rd campaign.
The wildest part of this showing of Father Time in LeBron’s game is the fact that one of sports’ most unbreakable records has almost come to a close on multiple occasions. Tonight in Toronto, that changed.
LeBron James’ streak of 10+ points ends
The Los Angeles Lakers traveled to take on the Toronto Raptors tonight in a game pitting the Western Conference 2-seed against the Eastern Conference 2-seed. On a night without Luka Dončić, people were expecting a classic ‘LeBronto’ night.

On a night where the opportunity to do more than usual presented itself, the unthinkable happened. For the first time since January 5th, 2007, LeBron James scored less than 10 points. He finished the night so close with eight points.
BREAKING: LeBron James’ streak of 1,297 consecutive games with 10+ points officially ends, as he scored just 8 points in the Lakers’ 123-120 win vs. Toronto tonight.
This marks the first time James has scored at least 10 points in a game since January 5, 2007 vs. Milwaukee.

Although the insane record has come to a close tonight, it’s practically unbreakable given the current basketball landscape. When you look back and think about just how long it’s been, you realize the world is a much different place.
