Ashes live: Head falls as ‘rubbish’ England punished by Aussies

Jofra Archer’s got his head in his hands.

Jamie Smith is ruing his mistake.

And Travis Head is breathing a sigh of relief.

Head got an outside edge but Smith couldn’t grasp it, and it flew away from the slips.

“When will another chance come along?” Alison Mitchell said on Channel 7.

As replays rolled from all angles, Matthew Hayden said it was a “must-take” opportunity.

The Aussie great quickly shared his concern about the bowler’s mindset.

“I’m just surprised by the body language of Jofra Archer here,” Hayden said.

“Look at that – head down, marching back. I know that’s kind of his way, but as an opening batter, this the stuff we love.

“It’s like he’s kind of dropping his bundle immediately here. Just created a chance. You’re on top of a batsman now for a number of balls. Clearly beats the bat and pace. Good piece of bowling.

“He’s got to get back on the horse though.”

And the very next ball is dispatched for a boundary by Weatherald.
