Rock star’s wife files for divorce months after being shot by police

Jillian Shriner filed for divorce from her husband, Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, on Tuesday, months after Los Angeles police shot and arrested her during a confrontation in which she is accused of pointing a handgun at officers.

The 52-year-old author cited irreconcilable differences in the filing and is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s two adopted children, ages 17 and 13, according to documents obtained by TMZ.

She is also requesting spousal support from her 60-year-old husband while asking the court to deny him any financial support from her.

The couple married in 2005, and it remains unclear whether they have a prenuptial agreement, Page Six notes.

The divorce filing follows an April incident when Los Angeles Police Department officers were responding to a hit-and-run and had barricaded a residential area after suspects fled to the location, according to PEOPLE.

Police said Jillian Shriner emerged from her home holding a handgun and refused multiple commands to drop the weapon before pointing it at officers.

Officers shot her, and she retreated into the home before being taken into custody. She was booked on a charge of attempted murder and transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

PEOPLE added that she was later charged with assault and negligent discharge of a firearm and was allowed to attend a diversion program for mental health issues instead of jail.

A month before the confrontation, Jillian Shriner announced on social media that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

“Yes, I have a little bit of the C word y’all. I know a lot of us do,” she wrote. “I’m here to thank the incredible oncology team here, who pulled me through a complicated operation without a hitch. I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate and excellent medical care I receive in my life.”
