In their last WBBL regular season match of WBBL|11, the Hobart Hurricanes take on the Adelaide Strikers in a crucial clash to determine their final position on the ladder.
Depending on the result between the Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades, the Hurricanes may not require a win to finish WBBL|11 in first place if the Renegades can secure victory in their match tomorrow morning at 10:10 am.
A Hurricanes win tomorrow against the Strikers would guarantee a home WBBL Final at Ninja Stadium next Saturday.
In their rain-affected match at Ninja Stadium on Monday night, English batters Danni Wyatt-Hodge (71 off 47) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (31 off 20) dominated the Stars’ bowling attack in the 17-over-per-side affair as the Cane Train finished on 4-176.
The Hurricanes’ bowlers then tore through the Stars’ batting line-up, with club stalwart Molly Strano (5-16) claiming her first WBBL career five-wicket haul, and Linsey Smith (2-29) dismissing the key wicket of Meg Lanning as the Stars were skittled for 98.
Tomorrow’s match against the Strikers sees very little change to the Hurricanes squad, with Kathryn Bryce the only addition as the travelling Associate player.
Amy Smith is unavailable for selection following a hamstring injury sustained during the WNCL season. Her fitness will be re-evaluated later in the Finals.
Tomorrow’s match begins at 7:10 pm AEDT at Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide.
