7.7K FirstEnergy customers without power in Summit, Stark counties

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Over 7,700 FirstEnergy customers are without power Thursday afternoon throughout Summit and Stark counties.
The outages come as cold air is firmly in place in Northeast Ohio as temperatures drop to nearly 20 degrees.

According to the FirstEnergy outage map, up to 19,000 were without power.
FirstEnergy shared the following statement at 1:49 p.m.:
“Our crews have restored power to more than 7,000 customers impacted by a transmission outage in that area this afternoon,” Spokesperson Hannah Catlett stated. “Crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to make repairs and restore power to the remaining 11,000 customers.”

FirstEnergy reports that crews are preparing for the assessment and investigation of the impacted areas.
The estimated time of restoration is 3:30 p.m.
