Hoosiers fan guide: Big Ten Football Championship weekend

The Indiana University football team will play in its first-ever Big Ten Football Championship game Dec. 6 in Indianapolis. While kickoff is set for 8 p.m. EST, an entire weekend full of events is planned. Below is the ultimate guide to Big Ten Football Championship weekend for Hoosiers fans.

Get gear, meet Hoosier
Stop by Dick’s Sporting Goods at Castleton Square Mall in Indianapolis from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 5 for the Hoosier Fan Experience. Purchase IU gear for the game, take your picture in interactive photo booths, play games, create a personalized trading card, win prizes and even meet IU’s mascot. Hoosier the Bison will be at the event from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Check out Fan Fest
Participate in interactive games, entertainment and giveaways at Big Ten Fan Fest. Taking place at the Indiana Convention Center from 3 to 9 p.m. Dec. 5 and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 6, admission is free for those attending the Big Ten Football Championship game. Tickets are available for purchase online for fans not attending the game.
The IU Marching Hundred and cheerleaders will perform at 5:15 p.m. Don’t miss this great chance to get fired up before the big game!
Be a superfan
The Hoosier faithful don’t just cheer their team on in one sport. Attend the CareSource Invitational – Supporting Mental Health at 2 p.m. Dec. 6 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to cheer on the Indiana men’s basketball team as they face Louisville. Tickets are available on the Gainbridge Fieldhouse website.
Grab a rally towel
Those who’ve purchased a Big Ten Football Championship game ticket can pick up a free rally towel outside Victory Field, 501 W. Maryland St., from 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 6 while supplies last. Fans must show their game ticket to receive a towel.
Celebrate with alumni
The IU Alumni Association is hosting pregame events throughout downtown Indianapolis. The following events are open to all IU alumni and don’t require pre-registration:
- Kilroy’s: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 201 S. Meridian St.
- Social Cantina: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 148 S. Illinois St.
- The Tap: 3 to 8 p.m., 306 N. Delaware St.
Attend the Big Red Warm Up
Join the Hoosiers for the Big Red Warm Up, Big Ten Championship style! This family-friendly pregame event will include a food buffet, cash bar, music by the official IU DJ, appearances from the Marching Hundred, IU cheerleaders and Hoosier the Bison. Attendees will also receive a game rally towel.
The event takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Indiana Convention Center. Tickets are $85 per person and must be purchased in advance; space is limited.
Watch the big game
Kickoff at Lucas Oil Stadium is at 8 p.m. Dec. 6. If you’re cheering the Hoosiers on from home, you can watch the game nationwide on Fox. Request a free Indiana football kit for access to ready-to-print banners, photo props, bingo cards and more for your watch party.
