It’s going to feel like -24 in Ottawa this week. Here’s when.

Colder-than-normal temperatures for this time of year are expected in the nation’s capital, the forecast shows.
According to Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson, a cold front is moving southeast and will push temperatures “quite a bit lower than what is normal,” he told The Canadian Press.
On Wednesday, Ottawa is hovering around 1 C, with temperatures dropping to -11 C overnight. However, the forecast by Environment Canada shows the mercury will continue dropping into Thursday.
The weather agency notes in its forecast that it will feel like -24 by Thursday afternoon.
Coulson said this is a near-20-degree drop in 24 hours.
Normals in Ottawa are expected between -1 and -8 C.
Communities north of Ottawa, including along the river in Quebec, could see snow squalls with the heavy flurries and strong wind gusts. Portions of northern Ontario, like Wawa and Timmins, are expected to feel the bitter cold as well.
The further north communities could see snowfall that’s expected to be brief but intense, with the possibility of up to 10 centimetres, Coulson said.
