FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025: Morocco Aim to Secure Quarterfinal Spot, Oman Seek Redemption

Doha, December 04 (QNA) – Morocco head coach Tarik Sektioui expressed confidence in his team’s upward momentum ahead of their Group B clash against Oman on Friday at Education City Stadium, as part of the second round of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Sektioui emphasized the importance of winning to secure a place in the quarterfinals.

He praised the Moroccan squad’s determination and highlighted the national federation’s support for local coaches, despite injuries sidelining key players like Youssef Moutiri, Achraf Bencharki, and Hamza Hannouri.

He said they’re fully aware of the responsibility and want to deliver results that honor Moroccan football.

Morocco midfielder Anas Bach acknowledged the challenge posed by Oman, who showed resilience despite their opening loss to Saudi Arabia.

He said their goal is to win and seal qualification and want to go all the way.

On the other side, Oman’s Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz expressed hope for a strong comeback after their narrow defeat to Saudi Arabia.

He stressed the need for tactical discipline and sharper finishing against a well-organized Moroccan side.

Queiroz, who has previously defeated Morocco with two different teams, noted this is a new tournament with a different team, as they respect Morocco and will play with caution.

He also pointed to the absence of nine players and the team’s reliance on younger talent as part of a broader rebuilding effort.

Omani player Abdullah Fawaz echoed his coach’s sentiments, calling the match crucial and affirming the team’s readiness to fight for three points to stay in the competition. (QNA)
