Leeds United v Liverpool: Team news

The visit of the Reds is Leeds’ third match in a week against a side who finished in the top four last term.

After suffering a stoppage-time 3-2 defeat away at Manchester City, they overcame Chelsea 3-1 on home soil on Wednesday.

Farke continued: “We have to see who will be fully recovered. For some players it’s of course a bit easier once you are used, for example, to have this load, three games in seven days. So, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, they are a bit more used to it.

“But also the players who have just joined us in the summer, for example, perhaps also from a league that didn’t have the intensity like the Premier League, for them it’s perhaps even a bit more difficult.

“It’s positive that we have shared the load so far. Anton Stach and Gabi Gudmundsson were not too much involved against Man City, I think this is perhaps a bit helpful.

“With Ao Tanaka, it’s a bit more tricky because he has played both games [and] many, many minutes in a position where he had to invest a lot.

“We have to see how quick they will recover. We need during this period the whole squad, especially in a week when you have three games against opponents where you always have to go over the limit. In these types of games, we have to go over the limit in order to be competitive.”
