Cavs add another player to Friday night’s injury report vs. Spurs
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The depleted Cavs were already going to be without six players for Friday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.
A seventh has been added to the injury report.
Evan Mobley, the team’s second-leading scorer who did not participate in morning shootaround, has been downgraded to questionable because of an illness.
Friday night is the first game of a back-to-back and the penultimate matchup of this current three-game homestand.
In 22 games this season, Mobley is averaging 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 blocks. He recorded his 10th double-double of the season during Wednesday’s 122-110 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Cleveland will already be without six players Friday night — Darius Garland (toe injury management), Sam Merrill (sprained right hand), Jarrett Allen (strained right finger), Larry Nance Jr. (calf strain), Tyrese Proctor (personal reasons) and Max Strus (foot surgery).
If Mobley joins that group, it will leave the Cavs with just 10 available players while forcing coach Kenny Atkinson to use a 13th different starting lineup.
