Gen.G may be going into the 2025 Kespa Cup tournament without two of its star players, but Cloud9’s roster also saw a revamp when Loki dropped out of the team’s mid lane position. The significant advantage Cloud9 has here is that its new player, APA, is a long-time professional, having previously played with Team Liquid. By contrast, Chovy and Ruler’s stand-ins Loid and Harusary only participated in one tournament so far, and their performance at that time left much to be desired.

Kiin, Duro, and Canyon are excellent players for Gen.G, but they lack the carry potential required to win against a top team. Cloud9 may start the match by playing slowly, potentially giving Gen.G a quick and easy first blood, but it may not take Zven and APA long to start gaining steam against their substitute LCK counterparts. There’s only so much Duro and Canyon can do to help their teammates, especially with a lack of experience playing together as a unit on the big stage.
Gen.G’s biggest ace will likely be Kiin, who has dominated the top lane multiple times before. C9’s Thanatos has thrown numerous times, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the same happens again here. But with Cloud9 holding the advantage in other lanes that tend to have more mobile carry champions capable of roaming, the team may come out victorious in the long run, especially if it can secure at least some objectives along the way.
