The flood alerts in place in East Yorkshire tonight

  • Flood alerts and warnings are in place across the UK tonight. Heavy rain is falling across much of the UK, including Yorkshire. Three alerts are in place in East Yorkshire. A flood alert is put in place in an area where flooding is possible, while a flood warning is introduced when flooding is likely.
  • The agency is monitoring the situation and says people should take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. It says the forecast remains unsettled this week.
  • FLOOD ALERT: River Foulness and Market Weighton catchment – High river levels may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible over the next several days. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near Welham Bridge. The forecast remains unsettled this week. We are closely monitoring the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
  • FLOOD ALERT: Lower River Derwent – High river levels are expected to lead to flooding today, Friday 05 December 2025. Flooding is possible over the next several days. Locations most affected will be local roads and low-lying land around Stamford Bridge, Pocklington, Wressle, Wilberfoss and Elvington. The forecast remains unsettled this week and levels are expected to remain high. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
  • FLOOD ALERT: North Sea coast at Bridlington – high tides today may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible from 17:30 to 22:00 on 05 December 2025 and from 05:00 to 09:00 tomorrow on 06 December 2025. High tides throughout the evening may lead to flooding from overtopping. Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths. Avoid beaches and coastal promenades, which may be flooded .
