Remember the confrontation between the wife of Weezer bass Scott Shriner? There’s been not-so-surprising development.

If you cast your mind back to April, you may remember the story of a police chase in suburban Los Angeles that led cops to the backyard of the home owned by Scott Shriner, the bass player of Weezer. He wasn’t home, but his wife of 20 years, Jillian Lauren-Scott. She freaked out and pointed a gun at the cops and fired. (She missed.) When she refused repeated commands to drop it, she was shot and wounded.

In her defense, she says she thought she was shooting at the suspects the cops were chasing, not the cops themselves. Jillian was arrested and charged then in September, she was found eligible for a two-year mental health division program. No drugs, no alcohol, required AA meeting, and no access to guns or knives. If she can do that for two years, she’s off the hook.

Jillian is an interesting person. She’s written a number of books, including one about the time she spent a member of a royal harem in Brunei.

The latest development is that she has filed for divorce, claiming irreconcilable differences. She’s seeking joint custody of the couple’s two teenaged sons. There’s also a request for spousal support, that Shriner pay all her lawyers’ fees, and that she legally the “Shriner” from her last name.

It’s been a rough year. Back in March, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
