Miami’s CFP hopes are in the air. Who’s on the 2026 football schedule?

ACC could miss College Football Playoff if Duke upsets Virginia

Miami football fans mad about Notre Dame seemingly blocking the Hurricanes out of the College Football Playoff can go complain in person in 2026.

UM started the 2025 college football season with an exciting 27-24 win over the Fighting Irish, fresh off an appearance in the national championship game. It was the debut of Georgia transfer Carson Beck at quarterback, a revamped defense built around potential No. 1 overall draft pick Rueben Bain and an electrifying 17-year-old receiver named Malachi Toney.

While both Miami and Notre Dame finished the regular season 10-2, the Irish sit at No. 9 in the CFP rankings while the Hurricanes are at No. 12. It’s been that way since the first rankings were revealed, and it’s led to questions into the selection committee’s processes that seem to waver team-to-team and week-to-week.

There’s good news for Miami fans big mad at the Golden Domers: The two are scheduled to renew acquaintances again in 2026 in South Bend. The Hurricanes haven’t beaten the Irish at Notre Dame since 1984, right in the heart of the heated rivalry. Maybe a statement road win will be enough to put UM on the inside track for the 2026 playoff.

Miami doesn’t play Florida next season, but it will host Florida State. Pittsburgh will visit too, as will Virginia Tech and new coach James Franklin. The Hurricanes will head to Clemson, Stanford and North Carolina — will Bill Belichick still be in Chapel Hill?
