Karl Urban Hints At Massive The Boys Season 5 Deaths In Episode 1

The Boys season 5 will bring the beloved superhero satire drama to an end, but not without pulling the heartstrings of its audience. While many characters in The Boys have been killed off throughout the years, viewers should not expect anything less from the final season.
During The Boys panel at FAN EXPO, which was moderated by ScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier, Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, teased that season 5 would not waste any time setting up the final arc of the series, and deaths will be coming as early as the season premiere. Urban began by saying, “I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be.”
The star stressed that, “I think the real thing to look out for in season 5 on an emotional level, as far as the characters go, and your attachments to characters, there’s going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode.”
Urban concluded by adding, “That’s probably what is going to make you realize, “Oh, this s–t is for real.” The stakes couldn’t be higher, and anybody’s fair game.”
The Boys season 5 finished filming back in mid-June 2025, as the series is set to return in 2026. The final season will also see crossovers with its spinoff, Gen V, as the season 2 finale saw Starlight and A-Train recruiting the students as part of their resistance group.
While The Boys season 5 will mark the end of an era, the franchise is not going away just yet, as a prequel series, Vought Rising, with Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront, is going forward. Ackles will also be featured in the final season.
The Boys showrunner and creator Eric Kripke is also staging a big Supernatural reunion, with Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki set to appear in season 5. At the same panel, Urban teased that there will be more Supernatural cameos to look out for.
The Boys season 5 has yet to get a premiere date on Prime Video.
