Video during the third period of last night’s game against the Utah Mammoth caught Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes in a disagreement with Elias Pettersson.
Despite a good effort last night against the Utah Mammoth, the Canucks fell by a score of 4-1, with Kevin Stenlund and Mikhail Sergachev each recording two-point nights for their club.
Late in the third period during a timeout called by Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote, Sportsnet’s cameras showed a moment of frustration between captain Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson.
Video catches Vancouver Canucks’ Quinn Hughes in disagreement with Elias Pettersson
In a video posted to social media on Friday night, X user @markshultzbitch showed what appears to be a bit of a disagreement between Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson as they’re drawing up a plan of attack with under a minute remaining in the final frame.
While it’s hard to tell exactly what Hughes is saying to Pettersson, @markshultzbitch believes the Canucks captain calls him an “idiot”, along with other expletives.
“Quinn Hughes yelling at petey “wtf are you doing « «f**king idiot” – garland taps him on the back. YIKES.”
However, several fans in the comments of that post were quick to correct him, telling him that’s not what Quinn Hughes was saying at all, with one even pointing out that it appears that the Canucks captain was informing Elias Pettersson that he’ll go get the the puck and take it, if they win the face-off.
“Deff not what he said lol” @BuresFlow said.
“it looks to me like he’s saying “I’ll go for it, I’ll f**kin get it” which makes more sense cause it looks like they’re drawing up a play.” @Chico_ftw said.
“Yeah this is what he said, win the draw and I’ll f**king get it.” @Jockoboz said in response to @Chico_ftw.
Regardless of what was said at the timeout between Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson, it’s clear that frustrations are at an all-time high in Vancouver, with the Canucks now sitting seven points back of the Chicago Blackhawks for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
Vancouver will look to snap their losing streak tonight as they host Kirill Kaprizov and the Minnesota Wild at 7 p.m. PT on Hockey Night in Canada.
