RaKai Confronts Twitch CEO After Being Banned for WalMart Stream

RaKai directly confronted Twitch CEO Dan Clancy about his recent ban from the platform.
During Rayasianboy’s stream at the Streamer Awards on Saturday (Dec. 6), the 17-year-old spotted Clancy. He ran to the CEO and demanded an answer about his ban from the platform last week, which had followed a livestream inside of a Walmart that saw him handing a woman some flowers that he didn’t pay for.
“Quick question: why you ban me?” asked RaKai near the 2 hour and six minute mark of the stream linked here.
“You know why, man. You don’t have to ask me. They communicated with you, man,” Clancy responded. “I don’t know the details. I don’t do this.”
Clancy then clarified to RaKai that despite being the company’s CEO, he doesn’t handle bans directly. There’s “a whole team” that’s responsible for issuing and revoking bans on the platform, he explained.
“You know why you were banned,” he added. “Oh, you do. Your SPM told you why you were banned.”
Following the ban, RaKai shared a screenshot from his Twitch dashboard notifying him of it. The message listed “Illegal Activities” as the cause of his 730 day suspension, set to end on Dec. 2, 2027.
In a follow-up video, RaKai claimed that he told his assistant to tell the woman he didn’t actually buy the flowers and to put them back. However, he claims that this moment wasn’t shown on the stream.
“I get where Twitch is coming from, bro. But I just feel like for two years, it’s honestly crazy,” he said at the time.
Twitch released a statement last week clarifying that RaKai’s ban length was a “visual bug” and called the issue an “isolated incident.”
“This isolated issue didn’t impact his email notification, and we’ve confirmed that the email the creator received did include the correct suspension length,” read one part of the statement. “We’ve also clarified this with the creator directly.”
