“They Said My King is Washed”: Lakers Fans Stunned by LeBron James as the “King” Goes Vintage to Sink Sixers in Clutch

LA Lakers superstar LeBron James led his team to a thrilling 112-108 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. The four-time MVP scored 10 straight points after Paul George inched the Sixers to within 100-98 of the Lakers with 4:47 to go. James’ last basket, a 20-footer, pushed LA’s lead to 110-105 with 27.4 left.

LeBron James hit a 3-pointer to respond to George’s two free throws. After Andre Drummond’s dunk, James answered with a 26-footer for a 105-100 Lakers advantage. The 76ers tied the game again after Quentin Grimes and Joel Embiid combined for a 5-0 run.
The 23-year veteran pushed LA ahead with a 3-pointer before dropping a 20-footer that forced the 76ers to a timeout. James capped off his dazzling night with a steal off a bad pass from Paul George.
When LeBron James played on Thursday, he scored eight points in 36 minutes, ending his record of 1,297 double-digit scoring games. Although he made the pass that resulted in Rui Hachimura’s game-winning 3-pointer, James’ critics had a field day.
The response from James, on a night the 76ers wore their vintage jerseys, was emphatic. He was more aggressive on offense after largely playing behind Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves since returning from a sciatic nerve injury. James tallied a season-high 29 points, seven rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block.
LeBron James gave a performance that had the pro-76ers crowd on its feet. He put on a vintage display that might be his last Philadelphia if he decides to retire after this season.
JJ Redick calls LeBron James’ performance “super important”
LeBron James averaged 14.0 points, 7.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game heading into the Lakers-76ers showdown on Sunday. After the game, Lakers coach JJ Redick explained the impact of James’ performance:
“For him to have the injuries and to sort of start the season playing catch up, in a way, and start the season playing catch up with a team who’s also in a really good rhythm, and that, as a player, I don’t care how good you are, it’s tough to figure out. Tonight was super important.”
James missed the Lakers’ first 14 games due to a siatic injury. He also sat out Friday’s game in Boston due to the same nerve injury and left foot arthritis. James said in mid-November that it would take time to find his rhythm. He might be starting to find that groove after a vintage performance in Philadelphia.
