Comebacks keep coming

Yet more evidence that this FC Barcelona team never down tools. The great victory away to Betis (3-5) was the sixth comeback this season for Hansi Flick’s side and their third in a row, making it now 18 points earned from losing positions. The LaLiga season isn’t even halfway through and those 18 points have already matched those earned from comebacks across the entire 2024/25 season.
This new display of character and perseverance is further testament to Barça being the most reliable team in the league when the going gets tough. The blaugranes’ performance in adverse situations has become one of the main characteristics of Flick’s project.
Six comebacks
The comeback in Seville crowns an impressive run. It all began at the Ciutat de València stadium, when a 2-0 lead for Levante turned into 2-3. Then 1-0 away to Oviedo became a resounding 1-3. There were also comebacks in difficult home games against Real Sociedad (2-1) and Alavés (3-1). After that, Atlético de Madrid saw their 0-1 lead turned into a 3-1 home win, and now Betis became the latest team to be on the end of a comeback, the blaugranes transforming 1-0 into an amazing 3-5 victory.
These six comebacks show a confidence, a robustness and a mature approach to competing that allows the team to come through whatever the scenario, even during demanding away days and when under the greatest pressure.
A trend for some time
Barça already showed this strength last season with the 18 points gained from losing positions on the way to the LaLiga title. The team have matched that figure now with only fifteen gameweeks played, having done so with what feels like increasing authority. The continuity of this trend is evidence that the team responds with even more determination rather than letting their heads drop when they go down.
This latest comeback sees Barça remain set as leaders of the table and sends out a clear message that the team will always be competing until the final whistle.
