We have still got one more FA Cup second round tie to decide this evening but before things get under way at St James Park, Brackley and Burton will get to learn who they might be facing in January.
The strongest teams in the land, from the Premier League and Championship, are now entering the competition and to make a wild prediction, we think will contain the eventual winners in May.
Crystal Palace did buck the trend slightly in 2024-25, lifting the trophy for the first time in their history, while Leicester were also triumphant in 2020-21, so it does not have to be just about the “big guns”.
But with three non-league teams confirmed through, nine from League Two and seven from League One, plenty of scope for some interesting and unique ties to be drawn by Joe Cole and Peter Crouch, who are on duty tonight.
