‘All’s Fair’ Ending Explained: Which Couple Broke Up? Who Was Arrested for Murder? Who Cheated?

Kim Kardashian‘s legal drama All’s Fair ended its first season on a shocking note with a mix of onscreen splits, lengthy sex scenes and a murder arrest.
During the two-part finale, which aired on Tuesday, December 9, Carrington (Sarah Paulson) tried to secure an offer to be a partner at LVLUP Legal. Her self-sabotaging behavior created some major obstacles, starting with her affair with Allura’s (Kardashian) ex-husband, Chase (Matthew Noszka).
Fresh off a hookup with Allura, Chase was determined to win her back and even promised to attend therapy for sex addicts. He fell off the wagon when a flirty encounter with Carrington turned into them having sex — multiple times — in several scenes that lasted way longer than expected.
Allura connected the dots and made it clear that she wouldn’t reconcile with Chase. As a result, he mentioned Allura’s name during sex with Carrington, which ended their arrangement as well.
Meanwhile, Emerald (Niecy Nash-Betts) was still a suspect in the death of her rapist. Liberty (Naomi Watts), meanwhile, was planning her wedding to Reggie (O-T Fagbenle) but Emerald and Allura judging her decisions for her big day created a rift between them.
Carrington used the tension between the friends to gain Liberty’s trust. She thought she would then have a majority of the partners at the firm voting her in — until Dina (Glenn Close) made it clear she would never trust Carrington.

This led to Carrington tricking Allura (and the others) into thinking Dina was in mental decline. Dina attempted to defend herself but Carrington’s evidence made her look unstable, which coincided with the police arriving at the firm to arrest Dina for the murder of Emerald’s rapist.
Elsewhere in the finale, Liberty broke off her engagement when she found out about Reggie’s money issues. Carrington, meanwhile, appeared to ascend to a role at the firm as her revenge plot continued.
Viewers who found themselves shook by the ending luckily have more to look forward to after Hulu renewed the show despite an onslaught of negative reviews. The streaming service announced the renewal on November 24, referring to Ryan Murphy’s legal drama as “the biggest Hulu original scripted series premiere in 3 years,” according to the first three days of streaming.
The series launched at No. 1 on the Hulu Top 15 Today list “and has maintained a spot every day since” its debut. Hulu noted that All’s Fair has also “dominated social conversation with more than 10 billion impressions to date” as new episodes continued to premiere.
Television pioneer Ryan Murphy has been creating, writing, directing and producing Emmy-winning series for over two decades — and now has so many shows on the air that it feels like he’s everywhere. After cocreating the cult teen dramedy Popular in 1999, Murphy made his debut as a solo creator with the FX drama Nip/Tuck, […]
Kardashian, 45, previously attempted to stay positive about the reception to All’s Fair.
“Obviously with everything in life, you got to take risks to get there but I have taken all the risks,” she noted in a November episode of The Kardashians. “I think doing a scripted show is more pressure. There’s definitely a judging meter of like, ‘You can act and you are a bad actress.’ Being on a reality show, you’re just living your life. … To get people to like a character is probably easier than to get people to like you for who you are.”

In addition to All’s Fair, Kardashian also collaborated with creator Ryan Murphy on American Horror Story: Delicate.
“I am, of course [taking classes],” she told Variety in April 2023 about her dedication to the role. “You know, it’s a challenge [but] I like to challenge myself. We start shooting my stuff later this month but production [has] already started and I’m so excited. I can’t [say too much] but I’m excited. I think it’s really fun to step outside your comfort zone and try something new and grow. I’m so excited for the experience.”
All’s Fair is now streaming on Hulu.
