Grammy winner Kelsea Ballerini snaps over one comment from the crowd during Sydney show

A Grammy Award winner has hit out at the audience of her recent Australian show after one comment from the crowd.

Cowboys Cry Too singer Kelsea Ballerini called out a concertgoer who shouted her ex-husband Morgan Evans’ name during her Patterns Tour show in Sydney on Saturday night.

Ballerini was singing her song Penthouse to a cheering crowd when a member of the crowd shouted out, “Team Morgan”.

Video footage of the moment was shared on Instagram, and reveals the concertgoer’s comment prompted boos from others in the audience.

Once Ballerini noticed what the concertgoer had said, she stopped singing and told them to, “f–k off” while rolling her eyes.

She then proceeded to say: “See? Everyone’s happy,” as she smiled at the audience.

As the audience cheered, she gave them a thumbs up before throwing her middle finger up in frustration at the one rogue comment.

Later, the singer addressed the incident with a post on her Instagram stories.

“Respectfully, if anyone yells anything disrespectful to anyone during this song again, it will no longer be on the set list.

“Please let this be a song that matters to people and not a place to insert yourself into a world that doesn’t exist and was never yours to begin with.

“Team everyone’s happy or bust please.”

The musician wrote and recorded her song Penthouse in the wake of her divorce from Evans, who is an Australian singer-songwriter, as part of her EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat.

Ballerini filed for divorce from Evans in August 2022 after four and a half years married.

“This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth and effort that ultimately has come to an end,” she wrote in a message on social media.

“It’s hard to find the words here… but I feel extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons.”

She detailed her divorce in her album Rolling Up the Welcome Mat and its extended version Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good) but her song Penthouse resonated most with fans.

“It’s just this song that people felt because, whether you have been divorced or not, we’ve all been in situations where you feel like you’re playing a character of yourself in life,” Ballerini recently told nine.com.au about the popular heartbreak ballad.
