Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk was slapped with yet another ban, while he faces time on the sidelines over a doping offence, this time, however, the Ukrainian will be banned from pulling out his mean machines.
Mudryk was slapped with a driving ban for his illegally tinted BMW windows as he admitted to driving while disqualified, without insurance, and using a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
Mudryk was pulled over by police while driving a £140,000 BMW with ‘excessively’ dark window tints and a foreign license plate and was handed a one-year driving ban, a 12-month community order requiring 60 hours of unpaid work, and fined £199 by a court.
Earlier in the year, in June, The Football Association charged Mudryk with a doping offence, as the Ukrainian now faces a potential ban of up to four years.
Mudryk, however, was handed a lifeline as reports emerged that he could make his return next January as his suspension could be lifted on January 17, 2026, potentially allowing him to return to the field.
Mudryk was provisionally suspended in November 2024 after failing a doping test as the FA flagged adverse findings in an urine test. Traces of Meldonium, a performance-enhancing drug that was added to the WADA’s prohibited list on January 1, 2016, were found in the ‘A’ sample.
Misha, as he is fondly known, hasn’t featured for the side since December, when the news of the doping violation broke out.
The update also came as news for Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, who was informed of the same during the press conference ahead of the game. The Italian coach expressed his delight with the player having made the trip to Wroclaw for the game.
Mudryk, who arrived in London on a transfer in the surplus of the triple-digit million mark during the winter window of the 2023 campaign as the Ukrainian penned a eight and a half-year contract with the Blues.
The Chelsea winger defended his position over the investigation stating that, “I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon,” back in December.
