Anxiously waiting your ATAR? Here is a state-by-state guide on how to access your results

Millions of senior high school students across the country are anxiously awaiting their ATAR results after finishing their final exams, with one state to release the scores as soon as December 11.

The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) ranks students from a scale of zero to 99.95 and is used to help year 12 students enrol in their preferred university course.

It is calculated by combining the best scaled subjects (two units of English and eight other units) to create an aggregate, which then ranks a student against their year group.

ATAR results come out on different days across the country and can be accessed on the tertiary admissions centre used by the state or territory.

Here is a complete breakdown on how and when to find your ATAR score. Note all times are local.

Results are released at 9am on December 18 and found on the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) website.

Students will receive an email with a quick link to the ATAR login with either their UAC PIN or Year 12 student number.

VCE and ATAR results come out at 7am on December 11 via the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).

Students will have needed to have registered with VTAC beforehand and have their VCAA student number and results services password handy to log in.

They can find it via the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) student portal using their student number and password.

Results come out on December 17 and are progressively emailed to all students.

They can also access their ATAR on the Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) website.
