People may be charged up to €50 a month from January for blister-pack medication as Taoiseach vows to discuss with HSE

A looming charge to patients for blister-pack medication has been raised in the Dáil, with Taoiseach Micheál Martin saying: “We will go back and discuss this with the HSE.”

Pharmacists have written to patients proposing to institute a charge of €20 to dispense blister packs from the beginning of January after the end of a system whereby the State paid for their preparation.
