“The champions, looking better than ever”
Said Kevin Harlan, as the Thunder ended the half on a 20-6 run to take a 74-48 lead.
They have 15 assists on 26 field goals, knocking down 13-of-19 three-pointers.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is cruising with 17 points and six assists, hoping to extend his 20+ point scoring streak to 96 games.
They’ve made it look easy so far. Can Phoenix rally? A trip to Vegas is on the line.

Thunder have it rolling early
Oklahoma City is a well-oiled machine. Every player knows their role by heart, and they don’t stop executing. With that sort of cohesion, a team can achieve great things — like an NBA Championship followed by a 24-1 start to the season.

LeBron James is averaging 16.1 ppg, 4.7 reb and 7.6 ast over the seven games he’s played since returning from sciatica, dipping under 20 ppg for the first time in his career.
While his skills have diminished with age, his assists per game are above his career average of 7.4, and he can still get buckets when the moment demands it, as he did in a 112-108 win over Philadelphia Sunday.
The King is seeking his second career NBA Cup. There’s a national stage to shine on tonight.
Will the King prove pivotal on Prime?

Welcome to the Emirates NBA Cup West quarterfinals
Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers face Stephon Castle and the San Antonio Spurs in the second half of our Emirates NBA Cup quarterfinals doubleheader on Prime.
It’s a two-pack of Western Conference confrontations tonight on Prime, as the Phoenix Suns take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (7:30 ET) and the San Antonio Spurs visit the Los Angeles Lakers (10 ET).
The Thunder are on a 15-game winning streak — the longest in franchise history — on their way to a special 23-1 start. Only one team has gotten to 24-1 in NBA history — the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors. Oklahoma City can match them tonight.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, second in the latest Kia NBA MVP ladder, is having another sterling season, building on his MVP form from last season.
SGA’s shooting better from the field (55.8 percent vs. 51.1 percent last season) while matching his scoring (32.8 ppg vs. 32.7) and knocking down 44.8 percent of his three-point looks — easily a career-high.
He’ll go up against Dillon Brooks (career-high 22.1 ppg), Collin Gillespie (13.6 ppg) and center Mark Williams, who’s 9-foot-9 standing reach makes him an obstacle around the rim. Williams has posted a career-best 109.3 defensive rating this season.
The Thunder earned a 123-119 win over the Suns Nov. 28 in the group stage of the Emirates NBA Cup. Shai had 37 in that game, including 15 in the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter, to take the contest.
Will history repeat itself tonight?
In the nightcap, De’Aaron Fox (24.3 ppg, 6.5 ast) and the San Antonio Spurs face Luka Dončić (35.0 ppg, 9.2 reb, 9.1 ast) and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Spurs are the second-most common opponent of Luka’s career, and have held him to a 55.0 true shooting percentage — fourth-best for any defense.
Stephon Castle defended Dončić for 8:07 minutes in their last matchup — a 118-116 Lakers win on Nov. 5 — holding him to seven points on 20 percent shooting.
Can Luka be limited?
Tune in to Prime tonight to find out, as we play winner-take-all-basketball with a trip to Las Vegas on the line.
