Inkerman Bowling Club has submitted a planning permission application to expand its facilities at its location on Blackstoun Road, Ferguslie Park. The proposal aims to create 100 additional vehicle parking spaces and 25 containers designated for small businesses and personal use on the land adjacent to the club.

The club’s leadership emphasizes that without this expansion, the future of Inkerman Bowling Club could be critically jeopardized. In a statement accompanying the application, club secretary Iain Hampsay highlighted the urgent financial difficulties the organization is grappling with, stating, “Our club is currently facing a pressing financial challenge.” He explained that the lack of funding has adversely affected the ability to perform necessary repairs on the bowling green and clubhouse, which has, in turn, hampered their participation in the Scottish Bowls league.

Hampsay expressed optimism about the proposed revenue-generating initiatives, stating, “By implementing revenue-generating solutions such as the small business storage containers with vehicle parking, we not only address our immediate financial needs but also pave the way for a sustainable future for our club.” He further noted that the club intends to promote its facilities as a community hub for local events, enhancing its role within the neighborhood.
