Alexander Skarsgård Is Officially Joining an Exciting New Gothic Horror

One of the most eye-catching early arrivals of 2026 is Charli XCX‘s The Moment, a new mockumentary where the hit singer will be portraying a heightened version of herself. Scheduled for release on January 30, 2026, The Moment is sure to prove popular thanks to XCX’s star power alone, but its stacked supporting cast will only elevate it to likely box office success. With a varied ensemble including the likes of Rachel Sennott, Jamie Demetriou, Hailey Benton Gates, and Kylie Jenner, perhaps the most exciting addition to this cast is the ever-brilliant Alexander Skarsgård.

But it isn’t just the mockumentary genre Skarsgård will soon be part of, with it now confirmed via a report that the Swedish actor will be toplining the upcoming gothic horror movie The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands, the first English-language feature from Swedish-Costa-Rican writer-director Nathalie Álvarez Mesén. With his brother, Bill Skarsgård, famed for work in the horror genre as Pennywise in the IT franchise and Count Orlok in 2024’s Nosferatu, Alexander will topline this new gothic feature that promises to stretch and challenge his ability as a performer.

According to an official statement, The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands will deepen director Mesén’s “signature blend of intimate character work and magic realism, expanding it into a darker, more haunting period world,” following her acclaimed 2021 drama Clara Sola. “I feel incredibly lucky to work with a cast who dive into their roles with such generosity, playfulness, and openness. Collaborating with such a talented group of people from all around the world has been a privilege,” Mesén said. “Darla [Contois] embodies Isabel with visceral emotional depth, and Alexander portrays the father with a truth and volatility that ground the story. I can’t wait for the film to reach audiences!”

Alexander Skarsgård’s Latest Movie Has Impressed Critics

Skarsgård’s career keeps going from strength to strength. Ahead of the arrival of The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands, the Golden Globe winner is currently starring in Pillion, the directorial debut of Harry Lighton. Alongside Harry Potter‘s Harry Melling, Skarsgård has been earning plenty of acclaim for this latest performance, with Collider’s Emma Kiely saying in her review that the film combines “a compelling coming-of-age story, an endearing comedy, and a sex-positive odd romance into one of the best films of the year.”

Alexander Skarsgård will star in The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands, scheduled for May 2026. Check out Pillion in theaters in February.
